Treadmill’s allow you to run or walk whilst staying in the same place, originally invented to harness power by humans or animal running on them usually to generate electricity or some other form of machine, then they were used as torture/punishment devices some time later, however of recent years they are now driven by an electric motor and can incline and be used for overall fitness, the health benefits of running even 15 mins a day are of a great advantage to many.
Here I have reviewed some of the best and highest rated machines currently on the market:
For people who spend a lot of time working from home on the computer or on watching tv etc. this is the treadmill for you, a relatively new idea with many possibilities, with a free-standing desk integrated as part of the unit this is an altogether different take on the traditional notion of a treadmill.
Although it can only be used upto 4 mph, it is designed with the health conscious in mind, with a pedometer keeping track of how many steps you have taken, you can do a long walk whilst checking your emails and drinking your morning coffee.
The treadmill is also fitted with 6 shock absorbers to lower the impact on your joints making it ideal for anyone overweight as it means the exercise is low impact but a long walk will ensure you still get a good workout, with the machine able to support upto 350lbs in weight it is ideal for anyone looking to take action now.
Also another useful feature is the auto stop feature that activates if no steps are detected for 20 seconds.
The machine is very well designed with all wires running internally and the plugs between the desk and treadmill only fitting one way to make sure it is assembled correctly, a padded armrest means you won’t get tired arms just hanging them in mid-air.
The unit also features a multi-function display with calories burned, steps taken etc.
The price is currently $1,149.99 with free shipping.
In my personal opinion this machine is definately one to consider if you are in the market for some home equipment to keep fit easily whilst still being able to do the things you enjoy.

Back to a more traditional type of treadmill now, this one can be folded away for easy storage and can take a maximum user weight of 300 pounds.
A few of the things I really liked about this treamill were the many program settings, I believe the manual stated there were something like 30 different settings, it gives you an enormous amount of selection and choice, the machine also features some sonic surround sound speakers with mp3 compatibility to enable you to listen to your favorite tunes whilst working out.
One thing that really impresses at this price range is the quietness of operation, whilst in use not once did any family member complain about the excess noise it generated despite being in the same room.
Took me around 40 mins from start to finish to assemble so no problem there, an average person will be able to do it in a similar time I reckon with minimal mechanical knowledge.
Priced at $699.97 with free shipping, this also comes with a lifetime warranty for piece of mind on the frame and motors and 1 year on parts and labour.
Available on Amazon.
Our third treadmill tested here is isn’t the cheapest but it is one of my personal favorites that I have tested, mainly because it felt the most sturdy and durable.
The quality I found to be near as close to commercial gym quality as I have tested, it is also exceptionally quiet and folds away for easy storage, no complaints from family here.
The only downside if any is possibly the emergency stop function located at the front of the treadmill platform ahead of the grab rails, this can sometimes be knocked when reaching for the handles stopping the machine which can get annoying.
The machine packs the usual features we have come to expect these days such as time done, calories burnt etc.
Overall then a fantastic, good quality machine with very quiet operation, seriously worth considering if you are in the market for one of these machines.

You may be wondering what this is doing here in with all the motor driven units, well there is a good reason for this aside from the obvious savings on cost, manual treadmills that require the user to move the belt are pretty much unheard of these days, they were gradually phased out 20 years ago when electrical ones became much cheaper for home use and were no longer the preserve of gym’s only.
However there is something to be said for manual treadmills, at first I was also skeptical about how effective they could truly be in this day and age of electronics, however I was pleasantly surprised at this one, not least of which because I had never used one before, the same 15 minute run at the same speed I normally do on my regular treadmill felt much harder on this and actually felt like I had done an extra 10 mins afterward, because the belt is driven only by the user it has much more resistance and requires greater effort from the user.
This is means you actually get a great workout, more so than you would on normal treadmill, it isn’t for everyone as it does impact your joints a little more but you will definitely work harder as a result, it does also feature a good computer on board to keep track of your progress.
And the best part? only $145.49 from Amazon!
This is the treadmill I have been most looking forward to testing for a long while ever since I first read about it.
This is the first treadmill of it’s kind, in that it incorporates something called ‘Patented Ground Effects’, which has impact control technology, basically specially designed shock absorbers to take away much of the impact on your joints which many long-term runners complain of, it also aids in you pushing off from the back further reducing impact.
It certainly seems to deliver on it’s promises, My knees and hip joints felt much more relaxed on this treadmill than the ones I am used to at the gym and the one I have at home.
It is a very well built and designed machine with high quality components and a great finish, many of the usual pre-programmed workouts we have all come to expect, the machine also features a 3 hp motor which is above average and as a result is more than cut out to handle heavier people at higher speeds if necessary.
Priced at $2,299 from Amazon.
That was 5 of the best treadmills I have tested so far this year, please feel free to comment below, I will be posting more reviews in due course.
